You can test your hypothesis very simply with a thought experiment:

Get a big news or magazine publisher to publish a picture threatening and insulting the religions, cultures, and habits of western white people. Then do the same for middle-eastern brown.

Then, thought experiment still, consider what the results would be. What side is more likely willing to defend their way of life, their beliefs, their ideologies, their cultures? Which side is more likely going to shrug and go "yup, that [religious prophet/leader name] guy can be a real idiot sometimes."
