Not gonna lie, I really like Doug Jones, so that thing pissed me off extra much. I find him incredibly cute (stone me now), but that movie was.... no no. No no no.
Like the old gay dude basically harassing some young dude and creepily obsessing over him, then I am supposed to feel for him??? Nah, bitch. And we are supposed to hate the young guy.
I wanted to like the movie, because I thought the sets, costumes and aesthetics were so cool, but then the story was just bad. I honestly don't know what they were thinking with the gay guy, it was so unnecessary for the plot. Ignoring how he had no reason to think the the younger guy was gay, the sudden overt racism to the hard working innocent black woman made it cartoonish, almost like they realized the audience might think his reaction to an older man touching his inner thigh and essentially propositioning him, from his perspective out of nowhere, was entirely appropriate. Same with the antagonist character trying to sexually assault the protagonist, it was like they realized he was almost entirely justified in all his actions so they had to give him some unsavory traits.
The ridiculously lax security for what would be the find of the century (especially since this is set during the freaking Cold War) was just constantly irritating.
Why is there a theme of fucking weird things? Are movie people really this weird?
Yes, I hated that other one where the lady fucks the water creature. Whatever it was called.
Tbe Shape of Water (bcs the marxists say that there is no human nature. human behaviors take the shape of their container, you see)
