As for why so much of the reeeing is coming from purportedly conservative pundits and people? I must confess surprise. I didn't expect so much backstabbing, not even from the classically traitorous neocons and predictably stupid libertarians.

Conservatism is your enemy just as much as the left is. The way forward is to acknowledge truth, learn from it and use the findings to build healthier communities. Conservatism is not pursuing such a path and as such it is acting contrary to your interests.
