I got invited by a friend to see it soon, but I know Cardi B is in it and that convinced me not to go of my own accord when I was planning to.

As a spinoff, perhaps, which is what it could have been and was until they shoehorned Dom into it at the end. I'm guessing Universal's doing. Vin didn't want to and supposedly agreed in exchange for the rights to the Riddick IP, and he was even uncredited.
