It doesn't follow that the existence of an international food and spice trade requires that a nation have a loose immigration policy.
You could in fact have a nation with a zero immigration policy that still participates in the international food trade. And indeed many nations around the world have tighter immigration policies than the US but still participate in the international food trade.
What is being done here is giving an exchange of culture in which both locals and foreigner can enjoy. And if allowed to prosper generate new culture or dishes. After all, rock came from jazz, and jazz came from African culture. Anime wouldn't exist if it wasn't for American culture in JAPAN. This is what I am advocating for. Stop being SJWs in which cultural appropriation is frowned upon.
Japan appropriated and assimilated large swaths of Western culture after WWII while maintaining what is effectively a closed border. Which is my point. Japanese musicians after some practice can play jazz; they don't need to import American musicians just so they can have jazz concerts.
Do you think cities in Japan put on "Eat Up the Borders" events where they raise financial aid for foreigners to start businesses?

That is strawmanning my argument.
My argument was that without mixing of cultures we wouldn't have Jazz, which then gave rise to rock, and eventually metal. Not that Japanese people couldn't play Jazz, or needed an American to do so. My argument was that anime was a byproduct of that culture swap with Americans.
Nowhere did I advocate open borders, or uncontrolled migrations.
The parent to this thread's objection to this festival was that it celebrated mass migration:
It's an organization that helps immigrant-founded businesses to get an edge on white Americans. This festival was meant to be a celebration of diversity and flooding the US with foreigners.
So then I'm not sure where your disagreement is coming from if you aren't opposed to restrictions on immigration, as no one was objecting to people eating food from other cultures. They were objecting to leftists using that as a jump-off point to other policies.
