If it served their purpose to demoralize the public knowing they wouldn't do anything about it, sure.

They've already written articles about how they "fortified" it to "save democracy" though mass manipulation of law, media infrastructure, NGOs, and public corporations. Anyone with eyes knows it isn't "our" country anymore: it's theirs.

Not much further a step to say "yeah all those sketchy videos we said weren't sketchy? Turns out they were actually pulling fake ballots out from under tables. But what's done is done, so..."
