I said this several years ago about liberal "friends" to the right's opposition to the left: don't depend on them, because there will come a time when the right goes down a path they can't follow, and they will no longer be your friend.

The liberals may see themselves as distinct from the left, but when push comes to shove their tribe is the left, and they're not going to like it when you start attacking their tribe.
