Fact 2: France and the UK declared war on Germany for taking back historically German land in the Danzig corridor.
Fact 3: the UK refused to negotiate peace because they knew the US and Soviets were going to declare war on Germany. Germany likely would have agreed to end the war in exchange for the land that was taken in WW1 and saved millions of lives.
Germany lost that land, they did far worse to France after the Franco-Prussian War. They should have accepted it and prepared for the inevitable Soviet invasion.
The UK wouldn't let another power rival them of course, why would they?
Because their principal ally lost the war and they were getting bombed?
They knew the US and USSR would attack Germany unprovoked. Hitler knew this as well, and they launched operation Barbarossa because they knew if they allowed the Soviets to invade a few years later that they'd be out of oil and resources to fight them.
And look what that got them.
