I recently created a thread asking about how to find non woke movies and most people seem to prefer not to watch anything right now. I do not agree on the sentiment, I think that instead of isolating ourselves from the media we should just be smarter on how we filter and promote things that we like.
So to cut it short, if I build a website where you can easily filter out things like movies released in 2021, are action movies, have more than 7 score in imdb and have a "woke" score provided by selected people (not community driven to avoid infiltration) that is lower than 3... would you find it useful? The same could be used to search what "wokeness" score a particular movie had.
I think this could also be applied in the future to other medias, companies, products etc. But I don't want to build it if the general sentiment is "all new movies are bad" or "you should just do your own research"
The problem with voting is that the "woke" brigade would easily infiltrate. I think its better a system where you select those based on some criteria, and if you people think they are off they can complain or comment. It's not ideal but just look how well community driven content works in things like wikipedia..
Yeah, it's why I thought you need a board of trusted judges who can intervene.
Let's say you have a constitution of sorts that defines a list of unacceptables. The people voting would then have to follow the constitution, and if they don't will be banned.
The alternatives to crownsourcing the work is either that you have to do it yourself, or pay people to do it.
Paying people to do it would be possible if you could get seed funding, but no one is going to fund something like this - VCs will see this are having almost no possiblilty for a successful exit, and as a potential PR disaster.
Also you're trying to solve a hard problem. I just saw the first episode of Shadow and Bone and these Russians who apparently are racist suddenly without a question fall in line behind a random black woman inserted as commander / expedition leader. Makes absolutely no sense, but how would you codify this as a rule? Is merely having a black woman actor woke?
