They've been pushing this shit for over 4 years now.
The concept of modern policing, came from fucking London, where slavery was illegal. The first police department in the US was in Philadelphia, PA, a free state.
"Slave Patrols" were not even police in the sense of keeping order. They were more akin to formalized posses that were first requested by the Plantation owners themselves, then given legal protections by the state later on. Don't get me started on the insanity of the Fugitive Slave Law.
They are more akin to Private Military Contractors than they are police.
