My main concern is that it will be difficult for them to adjust, and with such a large number coming in, there will no doubt be many who will experience particularly nasty culture shock, coming from a 90+% Han Chinese and 95+% east asian environment into multi-ethnic cities.
They might not be swayed back into voting communist immediately, but they'll be susceptible to racial grievance mongering.
I think this will be a relativel small percentage of them, but a 'relatively small percentage' of 5 million is still a shit ton of people.
I would go so far as to say that if you're expecting potentially 5 million HK Chinese to arrive, you might seriously want to consider finding a spot in your country to build a planned city for a sizable chunk of them.
