"We have to have somebody." means "We would take anybody." Their specific advice be damned, we need a warm body. Which makes me wonder why Fauci won out over, say, a homeless drunk - clearly he had something they liked, if only the feel of his lips on their asses.

Looking at his history and background, he's the most reliable witness I've seen.

Why do you feel qualified to vet the history of medical professionals to determine competency but not qualified to vet what a specific medical professional says?
