The game meets you halfway by just calling you "hunter" or "ace" all the time anyway, likely done to avoid having to record 2 sets of voiceovers from every character, and likely done before the text translation team got a hold of the game.
But if that bare minimum amount of change saves Capcom the trouble of being bitched at, then good for them. That's more resources they can put into actual game development instead of needlessly patching out a working system after a controversy.
