I kind of see what you’re saying but, Attack Helicopter isn’t a pronoun so I don’t totally see the validity of the comparison. I just see preferred pronouns as respecting someone’s boundaries. It doesn’t hurt me and it doesn’t cost me anything. My grandmother has dementia, a mental illness, and we play along even if it doesn’t make sense that she thinks I’m her sister in 1967...because it doesn’t hurt anyone. And it helps me save my energy for real issues that actually are threatening us, our country, and our freedoms.
If I can't call you a miserable piece of shit faggot when you're acting like a miserable piece of shit faggot, I'm not really free.
Are you not allowed to say that? Like, legally?
As far as I know you’re not legally obligated to call anybody anything...?
I don’t know, it just seems like such a small thing. I truly do not care what people want to be called. It’s simply not important to me to get worked up about something that has absolutely no impact on my life whatsoever. I’m pretty far right on most things but not this, I guess.
I see pronouns as something I use for myself and don't need to be forced to speak words by some narcissistic abusive asshole.
