a big freeze caused by a "a bright purple streak shot across the night sky" ~~makes it so the colonization never happened.~~ then some purple mark starts appearing on people, plants, and animals.

This plot seems vaguely familiar. Like I've seen it somewhere else. How old is this garbage?
