Is it just me or does Twitch artificially promote female streamers?

I got a new Twitch account to get the drops from watching a stream, and I just noticed all the suggestions for it are female streamers with sub 10k viewers, playing games I don't care about.

I don't particularly like Twitch either, but until you can get drops from anything else, I'm stuck with it.
