I get wanting a tattoo, it has appeal in a hedonistic way. Even understand wanting to celebrate "historic moments" (in your mind) with one and show your values.

What I don't get is why they are always so basic bitch and forgettable.

Probably had some weirdo chick, or worse a hot one they had zero chance with, talk them in to letting them do it because they’re a totally interesting tattoo artist.
