From what I remember hearing a couple years ago, primarily community service things like cleaning public spaces. Harmless, but taking such action shows the local government that they aren't needed to fulfill all the roles they would like to.
Hard to recall hearing much about them outside of protests or scuffles.

I'm not even aware of a scuffle in Canada.
