Only thing I'll disagree with is English being approachable. It's the descendent of a pidgin of Gaelic, low German, and French. Its grammatical structure is abominable. Romance languages are much more approachable, and Japanese would be if it weren't for their use of Kanji.
The advantage English has is that it's spoken everywhere. I'm glad it is, too, because it's the language of liberty, but that doesn't stop it being an eldritch horror.
