I'm not disagreeing with you on ideas, but you keep just throwing out utopian perfect end points without any logical A to B in between. "Its not easy" addresses not a single part of "well how do you fix them." Nor does banning porn stop the oldest profession from cropping its head up one way or another.
You are trying to pass Prohibition again by saying "if we ban alcohol people will just magically stop doing crime and beating wives" but with porn.Which we have historical proof just makes the problem worse.
Women selling their bodies is the root of all those. That's the world's oldest profession. The selling of the product (their body) in one manner or another. Before we had concepts of currency or art (prostitution and porn respectively) they still sold it for protection, even companionship. Don't be an SJW and get caught up in specific words that only mean the strict definition that benefits your world view. Women will find ways to sell themselves, and men will feel compelled buy it no matter how hard you try to squash it.
That's you letting your own bias read words that aren't being said. Most people's criticism of Gab wasn't banning porn because they were horny. It was Gab prostrating itself as "free speech!" and then after "except stuff we don't like."
Which is exactly how all censorship movements start. If Gab just said "no NSFW stuff, professional/ad reasons" I doubt they would have gotten 90% of the pushback, but instead it was "PORN IS DEGENERATE AND EVIL AND WE REFUSE IT!"
If you have to make exceptions on your principles to justify your personal feelings, then you have no principles and people are right to be suspicious that you may compromise them further in the future.
As I said elsewhere in this thread, Gab is still likely the best case solution and we shouldn't sink it over this, but being aware of it and rightfully being suspicious of further compromise is necessary.
That's nearly everything in a post industrial society. Its a symptom of rapid technological progress where the human element gets lost among the efficiency.
That's why the amount of women doing "porn" skyrocketed to the heavens the moment smart phones became a thing. Suddenly technology permitted it, privately, and in order to compete they had to sell themselves for cheaper or weirder. The only reason it honestly didn't happen sooner was because society strictly frowned upon it hard enough to keep them in line and underground. Once "free love" took root, followed later by "slut/hookup culture" we were never putting that back in the box.
I don't disagree that its a horrible life. But its really hard for me to feel bad for most of them. Many willingly put themselves into that career path, and then cope with the horrors by doing way too many drugs. And then spiral down from there. A degree of empathy, but we all make choices. Most of them weren't forced into it, or forced on those drugs, and I save my true empathy for those that were because that is sadly common too.
Agreed. Most people's only exposure to Gab was that moralistic stance last year when they were just starting and therefore it was their only impression. All the things you listed are good reasons as well.
Especially "bucking from external pressure" because SocJus subversives are great at worming they way in with things you agree on and rotting from the inside. And as they also hate porn, especially anime porn, that's a massive glaring defense flaw for them to exploit right there. Its why stonewall principles are held in such high regard around these parts, because right or wrong they aren't easy to be taken over.
