Why would the government they control attack their own projects? You can't have it both ways, you can't have both sides of a war controlled by the same people.
Are you familiar with Mastercard's Vice President, a member of the Women's Equality Party? (a fringe radical party in the UK focused on female supremacy...yes, even more than Labour and the Conservatives.)

You're wrong. They will never lift the paywall. Once they have normalized paying for merely being given false acquaintance by women, they will move on to making us pay to not be treated like shit. From there, they'll probably just lower the amount of time and effort given to not treating us like shit for our cash over time.
