Unfortunately, the time for words is long over.
It's funny, but not really, how just last night I was thinking about that time from 2014-2016 when intellectuals were discussing the coming madness. That was the time for words. Yet, we ended up here all the same.
Oh well. Never let them say that we didn't give every opportunity to resolve this amicably.
Part of the problem is that when your opposition starts by dehumanizing those they have an animus with, arguments along the line of "This is going to result in sectarian violence and death" are met with "lol, ik, ik, amirite" - the probability of authoritarian regime isn't just known, it's welcomed because these people always see themselves at the driving seat of such a machine.
Definitely part of it. Another aspect is that the NPC meme is real. So many people just absorb headlines and only want to know the details of the newest Netflix capeshit. They were never going to come close to processing the philosophical battle and were destined to go with the default "hey! that guy's a racist!" counter.
