not "some were" it was "most were" especially in the higher positions. And stalin' purges were not directed at them but at any rival , and many of them remained in very prominent positions. (And "anti semitism" was prohibited )
I don't know. Trotsky and Zinoviev were pretty god damn important, but Stalin had them killed all the same. Post-1936, Stalin's inner circle wasn't very Jewish at all.
Besides, at the very most Vladimir Lenin "supposedly" had some Jewish ancestry through his maternal grandfather (whom apparently converted to Christianity, if that is true). But if he did have it, he didn't care much about it, and the Bolshevik party was his party.
