He is amazing at explaining why something is amazing and fun. His positive reviews are good for articulating why something feels so fun.
He lacks the mental capacity for critique, however. Worse yet, he cannot handle the criticism back. All three times he released controversial reviews (Octopath, Death Stranding, TLOU2) he followed up with attacking people for daring to point out where he was wrong.
Death Stranding has 100s of things to criticize. Few of which he did. Instead he regularly showed himself to be fucking awful at the game, and then treated it as a failure of the game itself.
I played it through, most of the stuff he attacks literally never happened to me because they were failure states designed to punish the impatient and unprepared. Something we know he is the worst for and openly so. The only thing I agree on is vehicles control like fucking garbage, but he undermines that by trying to use them offroad where its intentionally rocky to promote building roads and not using them exclusively.
Its an absurd game, and the story is ridiculous at that, but his entire review seemed to boil down to "its not what I wanted, so everything about it fails."
I like dunkey but anyone who doesn't think he's just a funny review satirist is absolutely smooth brained.
Any time he gives a serious opinion it's pretty cringe.

lol he was right about Death Stranding though. It's easy to be right about it though, it's very unique in its absurdity.
But yeah he does do the motte and bailey thing a lot. He plays the line between satirist and serious reviewer to protect himself.
