you lose the moral high ground and just look like a hypocrite.

Fighting back doesn't lose shit, if you believe in only fighting in self defence then fighting back isn't hypocrisy, it's staying true to your values.

If you believe in absolute pacifism it does make you a hypocrite. But if you believe in total pacifism you're already retarded, so adding a little hypocrisy on top isn't really that big of a deal in comparison.
