They are technically correct; communism cannot succeed anywhere unless it is enforced everywhere. If even one free nation exists, it will serve as a beacon to undermine and eventually destroy any communist regime.
Even if you somehow achieved end-stage communism where there are no hierarchies, no property, etc. all that would be required to topple the system would be a few people willing to shed some blood and take over.
