A straw purchase is buying the gun with the intent to give or sell it to someone else immediately after. I assume you want a gun for personal use so it wouldn't be a straw purchase.

Many states allow personal transfers of firearms meaning you don't have to buy from an FFL or have a background check done. Finding a personal sale on a gun auction site in a free(ish) state is probably the least scrutiny, easiest method other than asking around the hood. Most gun shows all run background checks so don't count on that "loophole", but parking lot deals are a thing.
