To summarize, games companies were not happy with the ratings that Amiga Power awarded their games, so they reduced perks, withdrew advertising, and even faxed them legal writs in an attempt to blackmail them. There's some funny items, particularly comparing one of Domark's games to worldwide catastrophes such as famine where Domark was NOT happy and threatened Amiga Power with their lawyers.
That's kinda interesting. I've not been around this stuff long enough and I kinda threw away gaming journalism before this "GamerGate" anyway. I just like this site as a place to be allowed to share my opinion without the social justice police waiting to pounce. I've found I so often disagree with game reviews that I just look for clips of actual gameplay and if it's cheap enough and interests me I try it out.
I wonder, do these review outlets really see threats of legal action for libel often? Seems like that should be free speech as in most cases it's a clear opinion on something. It would have to be straight up lying about indisputable facts to be libel.
Ah who am I kidding? Indisputable facts is all based on opinion of the left now-a-days anyway.
