Roleplaying:
"I'm in a wheelchair and therefore I want to roleplay a cripple"
Yes, everyone in wheelchairs want to imagine they are crippled in fantasy games and not some 6' tall bad ass with a mace able to RUN and WALK.
The adventure begins with the heroes forcing the local Feudal lord to install access ramps in all the dungeons and haunted ruins.
In my college days I was a Resident Advisor (RA), essentially University representative in the halls to keep the kids from drinking themselves to death and/or dying in a fire.
We had a guy in a wheel chair on the first floor who wanted to be a RA. We denied it to him because the RA's would have to pull his ass out in a fire over the students that were able to walk and there was no way he could physically do the job.
That was actually a plot point in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. The kids are all transported to the land of Ivalice. One of them, who is confined to a wheelchair, is able to walk in Ivalice. After being able to walk, he's not sure that he wants to return to the real world.
Yeah, the nutso left doesn't understand that roleplaying allows you to be something that you are not, often times its something you want but can't get. Tell someone who was a runner now confined to a wheelchair that you created an awesome combat wheelchair for them to play and yes they will be playing in a wheelchair because they are totally handy capable and nothing to be ashamed of being differently abled AND its patently obvious you got an asshole SJW DM.
I might be tempted to do it but I would have all kinds of movement penalties. I've done it before in Wasteland 2, minus the wheelchair.
Frankly I'd love to play in a heavy SJW group, I would play as an extremely fat, gay and sexist african american, I'd make it a point that that is my "ancestry", just to see how long it takes for them to ree.
