I'm not anybody familiar, but I changed my username when I left reddit to win. Ever since cancel culture has stepped into high gear, I've become more vigilant in purging real life connections and info in social media. It meant abandoning old usernames.
That's why I have this absurd username. The one I've used for 10 years is tied to my work as a freelance designer and is used for everything else. It doesn't engage in anything that could impact me financially.

I did the same. I don't want any connections between my online usernames and real life. It's too easy for people to try and ruin your life.
