Why is gamergate so important and talked about everyday?

I understand what happened and it’s important and newsworthy. Why can’t I go a single day on the internet without hearing about it?

I like the cookie jar analogy and I use it similarly. Nothing grinds my gears more than someone denying reality and arguing against basic truths
