I think we all know he's an extremely flawed figurehead for the right to rally around, but over the last few years I've been convinced of the power of morale. When you feel strong, you appear strong to your enemy, and they hesitate to attack you (at least in the open manner which they usually do). You feel like you can do things, so you do them.
The right appears to be ascendant at the moment. Is it enough? No, of course not, but we have to start somewhere. I too am concerned about Israel's influence in American politics, but I honestly think it's just a matter of time before that becomes untenable. The further we get from WW2, the less the youth care about the supposed 'plight of the Jews'. Right now we can't realistically have an American president who isn't obsequious to Israel, but eventually we will.
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't let perfect be the enemy of good.
