To clarify, I don't doubt he said it. I'm with you that I doubt he had a sudden change of heart after calling all his detractors racist and declaring war on them. And to preempt the cope of "hurr hurr, he was quoting Tropic Thunder!" I'm sure he was only pretending to be retarded.
