Japanese people generally don't want to rock the boat, and artists in general don't handle being attacked well. Japanese artists are especially sensitive.

I remember following this one Japanese artist I really liked on Patreon for years, and a single guy on there criticized his work; the artist felt so bad afterwards that he took down the whole Patreon immediately after that.
