I have just started Nightmare of Decay, a retro looking FPS with scarce resources. As someone who had quite a bit of fun with old school shooters, this promises to be quite a lot of fun. Just before that I have played Forgive Me Father, another old school shooter with an interesting aesthetic, this time of the Lovecraftian flavour. Not sure what I will play next, but probably something other, than shooter.

Ive been playing Kingdom Come. I played it around when it came out in 2018 but hadn't picked it up since, fantastic game.
Same deal here. Game didn't click when I got it but now I'm having a good time. Just hoping I can finish it before I decide I want to play something else in my backlog.
I was in the same boat. It was pretty buggy at first and I was terrible at combat. Once it was patched and I learned to be patient/trained more I really got into it.
Its a really wholesome game, but the combat is definitely not designed for multiple foes at the same time
Hopefully WH has remedied that in the sequel
I was all high and mighty and then got absolutely worked by a few peasants with polearms yesterday. One thing that helps is the headcracker perk and using a mace when you're fighting armored guys.
Yeah untrained peasants unironically make a bigger threat than veteran cuman soldiers, esp since the peasants just rush you and since its early game you can't just talk your way out of the encounter
But late game you kill everything in one hit (Herod's sword or the ravenbeak) so the difficulty spike is like in the gothic series
Thankfully you can cheese everything with a bow
