IBM used to exemplify American Exceptionalism... what a travesty they have become.. (and no im not an ibm historian i fully expect one of you to tell me theyve always been like this)
on IBM? you dont have to buy a boomer perspective, just read a bit about their history. they did great things and they did great things before boomers were even born.
its like ford... some boomer tells you to buy american and you roll your eyes knowing fords are built in mexico BUT beyond the boomers stupid perspective, nostalgia and decades of memes/jokes... ford was great and like ibm exemplified american exceptionalism. does it mean shit for that company today (or even 30 years ago)? no. does it mean you should throw away your pride in knowing your people created those businesses/technologies that changed the world? also no.
