SF6 is a strange beast, on one hand you have Cammy, Juri and so on that are clearly designed to be hot females. Then you have the gay black announcer and the trans? spartan replacing Sagat, and a host of black characters (also does Dee Jay look like he has a muscled beer gut to anyone else?)
Are they just throwing everything in and see what sticks or what ? I like fighting games but SF isn't the style I like and I passed on it due to the announcer dude so does anyone have here have info on how woke it is ?
Marisa (the spartan) is definitely not a tranny, nor does she really play like Sagat. Marisa is basically a female bodybuilder that is obsessed with and engages in gladiatorial sport, and her moveset is that of a big body bruiser. She shows at least some hint of femininity, as she talks about her ideal wedding and the game provides a picture with her in a wedding dress. She does hint at being bisexual though, I believe.
I would say SF6 has some hints of being woke (primarily that obnoxiously flamboyant faggot announcer NPC and the whole "body type" BS), but overall it isn't in your face and isn't part of any notable story moments I can remember.
They aren't afraid to provide fanservice, with some of the artwork focusing on particular character assets. Cammy can also still show her ass to the audience (with a peace sign), and additionally you even get some ass jiggle on a few of her attacks.
I'll give it another look when I have the time then (even if SF isn't my style of fighting game the single player aspect intrigues me)
I could have sworn that Marisa moves looked a lot like what Sagat had when I saw footage of her. If you don't mind answering, how do their gameplay differ ? I'm guessing but since you mentioned bruiser that Marisa goes in rather than zone ?
Marisa is pure power. Some grappling, mostly really powerful blows. Armors through attacks. Only a few characters come close to hitting as hard as her and only one hits harder (Zangirf, natch).
Interesting. Her idle stance and the moves I saw from her really gave me the wrong idea then. Thanks for clarifying will definitely give SF6 a better look when I have the time
