This is peak Reddit right here. Not sure why such simple words can evoke such an image of a sniffling simp, but it does.
It invokes such imagery because it is scripted, meaningless platitude from weak, ineffectual people. You make that association because so many Redditors fit that description to the letter. You've heard stories, and you've seen them.
Pretty much exactly the same, but with [current day] thrown in, too. First still manages to be more pathetic, though.

There is something resembling comedy that they want to invoke psychological doctors and Freudian complexes, yet they are completely diseased in the head. Hallucinations and delusions are not signs of a healthy mental state.
Now, there could be plenty of reasons for that (assuming the whole story isn't complete bullshit), but it's kind of funny the commenter saying people do nothing but play games, while the OP is saying they play games in the day.
I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that they have a job where they work a shift that would only enable them to play during the day. I didn't look to confirm that one way or another.
