The correct statement is “each person can decide for themselves” as “each person” is indicative of a plurality not a singular.
No it isn't. "Each person" is both grammatically and logically singular.

As the dictionary says, "every one of two or more people or things, regarded and identified separately".
It’s more than one by any usage otherwise the term itself is redundant as I said before. The adverb also only represents the noun in question. This is why each use of “them” denotes a plurality
