Japan really could stand to have less people, but the problem is that due to demographics their gold plated social welfare programs are completely unsustainable. Encouraging young native women to have children doesn't solve the current lack of workers paying taxes to fund the social programs that no politician on earth have the balls to try and curtail as unaffordable even in the slightest.
Austerity measures must include the rich. You can’t tell millions of people to tighten their belts while the wealthy elites continue to eat cake. I’m not communist, but I will recognize this fundamental reality.
