Does anyone think that the lockdowns and the extreme reactions of the local politicians might have had something to do with the lackluster red wave results? I don't mean people became more complacent, the sheep will always be the sheep no matter the degree of their baahing. I also don't mean the dems became more active their machinations.
My theory is: The people who are more likely to vote for change, who are more informed and like to vote based upon this, left their authoritarian homes. They moved to more tolerable locations to avoid the restrictions. Even the die-hard blues. Everyone who moved, left for slightly more freedoms. Dark blue moved to almost purple, purple left for red, red moved to Florida.
The results were, the useless shitbags who vote blue straight up, were left to vote blue straight up with no opposition. Blue became more blue, purple became more purple, Florida became the angry red of an engorged penis.
I think you're right. Even outside of covid, things have gotten bad enough that you basically need to move somewhere like Florida or Tennessee just to ensure your child won't get their genitals chopped off.
The future is a shrinking amount of purple states, as the division in the culture war escalates. Looking forward to the next presidency being decided in 6 states instead of 12, that should be fun!
I look forward to 2024. The new southern strategy isn't based on racism, but freedom.
