In late 2008, a group of prosecutors in Moscow, on behalf of Muslim activists and members of the Russian Pentecostalist Church, sought to have the Russian channel 2×2 closed in an attempt to prevent them from broadcasting the series, which they claimed promoted hatred between religions after showing "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics" along with that of The Simpsons and Family Guy. But their appeal was rejected by the Russian state federal court. As a result, the Russian channel 2×2 was allowed to keep its license by agreeing not to re-air the program again.[1]
