The thing is, there were, and in the Second Age, that this bloody series is about, they'd not gone all-in on the Sauron worshipping yet.

They could have legitimately had an interesting series about the people who would later become the Haradrim and how they got there, and discarded it because they wanted to claim and colonise the main storyline for themselves.
