I've mentioned before that the spam we get here is really strange and often seems like it's generated by some kind of AI, which has me asking, "cui bono? (who benefits?)"

Is it:

1. an attempt at narrative manipulation, i.e. pushing public opinion in a direction that serves an unknown party's interest?

2. Poisoning the well, i.e. tainting a forum with unacceptable opinions so any opinion from said forum can be considered unacceptable by association?

3. Just an AI test bed, i.e. seeing if an AI can generate posts to do both #1 and #2?

I don't know, but it's fucking weird.
