Honestly, as someone who grew up in this place, before all the conlang "dual name" bullshit, this is fucking unreadable. It is peak fucking cringe. But hey, if even the wokest, most retarded freaks (this lot, and the unions) think something from their own political "side" is up..? Something's probably gone very wrong, somewhere along the way, lol...
The costly CBD decision also comes at a time when UTAS’ labour practices have come heavily under fire. Earlier this year, the University was accused of wide-scale wage theft dating back to 2013, with underpayments related to penalty rates being misapplied and minimum engagement periods not being honoured. More recently, the UTAS Law Faculty administration has made headlines for their high rate of staff turnover, with many staff members across the University also employed in precarious contracts.
With some then questioning whether money would be better spent improving student experience and labour standards at the University, when asked if renovations could simply be made to upgrade the existing campus, Black simply told Compton “no”. Some, like Save UTAS proponent Ben Lohberger, allege a strategy of “forced obsolescence” in regards to the current Sandy Bay campus, with the aim of justifying the city move.
Amid the public relations disaster over the University’s controversial move, Black has invested in efforts to sway worsening public opinion. This has included promoting the CBD move through regular newspaper advertisements and sponsored posts on Facebook. The University has also enlisted the help of Instagram influencer Lillian ‘FlexMami’ Ahenkan to bolster their image. In a move that has baffled some, UTAS has gone so far as to hire controversial former Glenorchy Mayor and Liberal/Independent MP Sue Hickey to win over those opposed to the move.
The absolute gall of these people. It is astounding...
You thought Australia wasn't totally bald-faced corrupt?? Well, umm, there you go...
Sorry, this was meant to be posted when this originally went up, but my computer is on its last legs (and the posting of the comment on the site played up, for some "internal" reason)...
As I said elsewhere: This story was so inconvenient that the ABC later suppressed it on Twitter AND Facebook. That's how bad this has gotten...
Zero remaining other accessible online local (MSM) news coverage of it. Zero. Only physical print.
And the local subs ban you from posting or directly linking to it.
And then there's this: https://archive.ph/F3RfJ (UTAS splashes out in PR blitz as staff, students paint picture of low morale)
"The University of Tasmania has gone on a charm offensive, splashing out on full-page newspaper advertisements, collaborations with an Australian influencer, and sponsored posts on social media."
Which explains a lot of what I experienced on Reddit today, and Facebook previously, when bringing this shit up.
Which caused such a kerfuffle when I posted it in the local sub, today (a month late, for various reasons. Including waiting to see whether someone else might post it first. Now I know why they hadn't, or, at least, why those posts were "gone"...), that it eventually turned into a verbal slanging match, where these people, these "staff members" and "academics" went full ad hominem, defamed me as much as possible, tried to dox me, and are now trying to get me banned from "their" sub for being "aggressive in response", lol...
Watch your backs, guys. If this can happen in fucking Tasmania, at the literal ends of the earth, with a population of just over half a mill, and in a subreddit of like, 5000 "members" (note that a lot of the ones attacking me were not sub members, which gives even more indication of who they probably really were/worked for), then it can happen fucking anywhere...
Jesus fucking christ. Never go full retard. Uh, Reddit. Yeah, I mean "full Reddit". Totally...
Here is the woke retard student magazine take: https://archive.ph/wtxRO

Didn't expect to see Tasmania come up here.
Yeah, haha, that’d be me! Represent, lol!
It’s been a bad, bad day/week/time…
