We all know the narrative. The "left" is soft on Islamic extremists and Islamic terrorism, and this is because they are too afraid of being called "racist". While they is likely some truth to it, it another thought occurred to me - could this be, at least in part, due to the fact that those tactics by the extremists actually worked? Could it be because these people are actually afraid of those extremists and it's their way of appeasing them, in the hope that they'll be spared? If the last two years have thought us anything, it's that complying with tyranny is all the rage among these people.

Immediately after 9/11, when the goal of the elites was to get the US to invade as many middle eastern countries as possible, the left was passionately in favor of anti muslim hate. Now that the goal is to import as many muslim refugees as possible, the narrative has flipped.
You do have a point though. Terrorism can work but only if the victim of the terrorism is able to sympathize with the terrorist on some level. For example, terrorism worked to stop Comedy Central from showing the South Park episode that depicted Mohammed (some sympathy for respecting religion) but it didn't work for the Palestinians trying to gain independence from Israel (Israel couldn't care less about them).
