Production is kind of a crapshoot. They pick UK celebrities and go digging through old records about their ancestors. The problem is that they never know what they're going to find. They have had to abandon episodes in cases where they have dug through centuries worth of records and found... absolutely nothing even remotely noteworthy or interesting; Just generation after generation after generation of thoroughly uneventful low status lives.
