Another new episode of Splash Damage comes with the weekend. On tap from the original post over at half-KIA on Reddit:
Waypoint writers are paid big bucks to cover video games and can’t even make it more than a few hours through the games they cover, including Far Cry 6. We talk about Waypoint’s moral qualms with the series along with Kotaku’s offense at Twitch streamers being predominantly men, the ridiculous levels of censorship seen in the upcoming virtual reality remake of Resident Evil 4, the ongoing moral purge in World of Warcraft, a hilarious change to how gender is handled in Halo: Reach, and the bad news that Brianna Wu is making a Gamergate TV show.
You can find the episode here or on your favorite podcasting app. Thank you for listening!
Standard Disclaimer: I'm not Scrivonaut, nor am I associated with the podcast, I'm just a fan that wants to signal-boost the show.
Haven't listened to the episode yet, but just based on the blurb, my thoughts are:
In Waypoint's defense, Far Cry 6 basically being yet another iteration on "craft shitloads of stuff to upgrade the base" is annoying. That being said, if a reviewer can't even do their job and finish the game, then why the hell are they even working in the industry? Oh, wait, it's because it's the lowest-hanging fruit you can shoot for and still call yourself a "journalist", while blasting your leftist opinions all over the place.
Ehrmagerd Twitch streamers are mostly men! Guess what? Most people who are into video games are men! Next thing you know they'll be bitching about how less than 50% of streamers are black/latino/some other non-white ethnicity...
Male vs Female has turned into "Big Armor" vs "Little Armor"? Oh for fuck's sake...
Once again we see John Walker Flynt trying to insert xirselves into the narrative of GamerGate, despite really only being a footnote in the whole thing and being best known for harassing "herself" into leaving one room in her house to broadcast from another. Fucking pathetic.
