I've only read Wheel of Time of the two, so I can't really give an opinion, except to say my general review of Wheel of Time is threefold:

The author meant for it to be a trilogy, and it shows. Those first books are much tighter written than the later ones.
The author can write 10000 words and yet say nothing at all, but still be generally engaging.
The author has a blatant author-insert clueless-but-overpowered harem protagonist.

1100 pages is almost double 600 pages, for the same price! Think of the price savings per page!
