I always wonder if when they do this kind of thing, they think it's going to have any effect at all, or if it's just pure virtue signalling.

No sane person would think that this would make conservatives go "Wait, some movies and sports tournaments won't happen in my state? Suddenly I think murdering babies isn't so bad!", but these people aren't really sane.
